Shouldnt the chords start with a F#m and then onto A#m and D#m

I all depends upon what scale you are using. But, F#m, A#m and D#m doesn't quite sound right to me. Its not a sad song and so the chances of a song full of minor chords is less. Minor chords express negative mood. I think the chords provided work. Having said that, all major chords 'can' be replaced by one minor chord, so your system may work - care to post your arrangement?
