Time Signature and Beat Pattern:
4/4, uses off beats (starts from 4th beat) - (Time signatures explained)

Fundamental Chord Structure:
Basic chords: G#m, E, F#

Original scale: G# minor

Chords transposed a scale of C: Cm, G, A (8 semitone below this scale)- (Transposition explained)

Roman numeral form notation: i, V, VI (modal progression) - (Roman numeral notation explained)

Strum Pattern:

Option 1: Fast strumming - |(D(D'D'))-(D)-(D'D'D')-(DUDU)|

Option 2: Slower (less accurate) - |(DD)(U)(DDD)(U)|

Option 3: Play single don-strokes and let it ring.

(Explanation - 4 beats per meter; the stroke that is marked with a (') is played and muted; the beats in brackets are divided into subunits of equal duration as noted). (More on how to read strum patterns)

Playings Tips and Song Notes:
Between the meter chord changes occur throughout. Don't lose your pattern while changing. The song is very percussion heavy and if you end up breaking the strum, its all over. Its quite merciless in that respect.

The chords are quite basic, except for the bar. If you transpose it down or up by a semitone, you'll be in very familiar territory. Try singing along or playing along with the track to best guess the strum and chord positions.

The best part of the song is the odd key of Gm - its quite rare to find this key now a days - great practice song. Try and play it in the proper key. Gm looks tough, but its not.

Difficulty: Intermediate level
