Time Signature and Beat Pattern:
3/2 (really slow Waltz), though played mostly ad libitum - (Time signatures explained)

Fundamental Chord Structure:

Basic chord progression: F-Bb-C7-F (not in that order everywhere though) Original scale: F major

Chords transposed a scale of C: C-F-G7-F (7 semitones below this scale)- (Transposition explained)

Roman numeral form notation: I-IV-V7-I (Roman numeral notation explained)

Strum Pattern:

Option 1: Play single down-strokes per chord (|D-_-_|) (ad libitum). Rhythm is not important in the first line of the verses; start counting from the second line.

Option 2: Play broken chords interspaced with downstrokes wherever the chords change reletive;y quickly.

Option 3: Play an arpeggio. (Explanation - 4 beats per meter; the stroke that is marked with a (') is played and muted; the beats in brackets are divided into subunits of equal duration as noted). (More on how to read strum patterns)

Playings Tips and Song Notes: The chords are beginner level and do not overpower the lyrics, which is the soul of this song. Try singing along or playing along with the track to best guess the strum and chord positions. The song is one that I would never have thought of myself. A reader requested it. The chords may be simple, but the beauty of this song to a guitarist lies in the facts that its beginner level and ameneble to finger picking. Do play the finger picking pattern - it sounds great on just a single guitar. Between the meter chord changes rarely occur. Its a very slow song and please do not try and "correct it" by playing fast. being able to play slow is just as great an art as playing at break neck speeds.

Difficulty: Beginner level

Plain Lyrics:
Yeh raatein...
Yeh raatein, yeh mausam yeh, hasna hasana,
Yeh raatein...
Mujhe, bhul jana - inhe na bhulana, bhulana, bhulana!
Yeh raatein...

Yeh behki nighahein...
Yeh behki nighahein, yeh behki adayein...
Yeh behki nighahein, yeh behki adayein,
Yeh aankhon ke kajal mein doobi ghatayein.
Fiza ke...Fiza ke labon par, fiza ke...
Fiza ke labon par yeh chhup ka fasana.
Mujhe, bhul jana - inhe na bhulana, bhulana, bhulana!
Yeh raatein...

Chaman mein...
Chaman mein jo mil ke bani hai kahani...
Hamari mohabat tumhari jawaani,
Chaman mein...
Yeh do garm sanso ka ik saath aana,
Yeh badli ka chalna, yeh boondo ki rumjum.
Yeh badli ka chalna, yeh boondo ki rumjum,
Yeh masti ka aalam, yeh khoye se hum tum.
Tumhara...tumhara mere saath yeh gungunana,
Mujhe, bhul jana - inhe na bhulana, bhulana, bhulana!
Yeh raatein...
